Norah 8 Weeks, my Birthday & WICKED!

Norah had her 8 weeks appointment on Thursday. I can't believe how fast the time flies. Here are her stats:

Weight: 10lbs 14 oz
Height: 22.2 in
Head 39.8 cm

Her weight and height are both in the 70th percentiles and her head is in the 80th. I wanted to compare what Adeline was at 8 weeks, but her baby book is already packed away and I am not about to go and start digging it out! Norah had to get 3 shots and since she was getting them, I had Adeline get 2 of her Flu shots and a HEP shot. Of course they both screamed. Adeline got over it pretty fast and so did Norah. Later on in the day Norah Screamed in pain for awhile, but eventually felt better.

Yesterday Norah rolled from her back to her tummy. I need to start keeping a better eye on her so she doesn't fall off anything! She is just about the cutest baby I have ever seen... of course I am very biased.

Thursday was also my birthday. Some of my good friends took me out to lunch, and then Abe and I went out to dinner at PF Changs. I haven't been there since I lived in Utah. It was SO good! Abe made me a Rice Crispy Treat "cake" since I am off all dairy. It was delicious! We ate the entire pan in less than 24 hours :)

Last night we took our first date without both of the kids. I was a little worried because Norah won't really take a bottle. And of course she only drake like .5 ounce from a bottle the entire time we were gone.... but she survived. We went to the play WICKED and it was so good. It makes me want to go to more plays and symphony's. If I let Abe stay in charge of paying our babysitter, we may be broke if we go out too much!

Plus a couple of things Adeline has said:

"Mommy, when you get little like me you can wear my panties, ok?"

Adeline: "Mommy, can I watch Dora?" Me: "No" Adeline: "Daddy, can I watch Dora?" Abe: "No" Me: "She is a little manipulator", Adeline: "Daddy, you are smart!"

Adeline asking me to feed her: "Feed me little girlie!"

Today I left my walet at home when I went to the store and had to come back home to find it. When I came back to the car with it Adeline said, "I'm so proud of you mommy! You found your wallet. I'm just so proud of you!"

Whenever I do something in front of Adeline she says to me: "you are such a big girl!"

Weekend with Rob

Abe's friend Rob came in town to visit us over the weekend. He probably thinks that we are pretty boring, but hopefully his trip was well worth it. Rob does have a new best friend now... Adeline. She wanted Rob to do everything with her. He was a good sport and went downstairs to play with her when she commanded, read to her, chased her, etc. Adeline would even follow him when he went to the bathroom and would knock on the door saying "Rob, I'm knocking on the door, let me in!" And once I'm pretty sure she even walked in on him (whoops).

We went sledding and met our good friends the Hubers. We are going to to miss them when we move! They are going to be moving to Texas right after we move to Boston, so we need to spend as much time together as possible before we all separate. It sucks moving all the time in the Air Force. You meet good friends, and then you just have to leave. However it is nice because all your friends have to leave as well, so you are all in the same boat. Anyway, we had fun sledding. The girls only lasted about 15 minutes and were done. Adeline was a little afraid of going down the big hill in the sled, but had a blast playing and eating the snow (yuck, not clean).

Saturday night we went out to dinner with Rob at yummy Mongolian BBQ. Unfortunately right when we got there a guy had a stroke and the ambulance and fire trucks came. We saw them giving CPR to him and his wife freaking out. Then we walked away since we had about an hour wait before we could eat. I almost wish I didn't see it. I have TOO much empathy and then it eats me up. I think about him and his wife getting ready for dinner, going to spend the night out together, and then little did they know this may be the last... He's probably also a dad, a grandpa.... My friends sister works at a Tissue bank and they get calls when there is a death in the area. She said she got a call about a guy that died at a restraunt that night. Makes me feel so bad. You just never know what could happen.

Other than that, we just hung out and watch a lot of Olympics. They are so addicting!! Thanks for coming and visiting us Rob!

Lots of snow!

Over the past two weeks or so we have had a handful of snowstorms and got quite a bit of snow. Growing up in Park City I am used to it snowing a couple feet and still having to go to school. They cancel school here for even a little bit of snow and the days after the storm to make sure parking lots are plowed. It was nice because the base closed and Abe was able to hang out with us all day. Adeline started asking the snow to go away because she is so sick of things closing (story time at the library, gymnastics, etc.)

Our rain gutters clogged with ice and the other day when the temperatures rose a liitle bit, water started running down the side of our house. The water got in our drywall and started bubbling out. Hopefully the damage is not worse than we think. Great, one more project before we move. Abe had to get on the roof to shovel, chip the ice and put salt on the gutters. Hopefully that helped!

Adeline has been a little angel lately and is the best company. She says and does the funniest things. The other day I was at a scrapbook store with a friend. While we were shopping we let our kids play with some blocks they had. Out of nowhere Adeline got really sad and started crying. I ran over to her and she was standing in a pile of pee. I stripped her naked in the store and wiped up the mess with Norah's burp cloth and blanket. The store owner brought me clorox for me to clean the floor. She was actually so nice. I had no clothes for Adeline because she has NEVER had an accident with me in public. My friend had a receiving blanket that I tied around her waist like a hula girl. Our errand ended up being a lot more eventful than expected. I think I will pack some emergency clothes in my car for the future!

Norah is such a cutie. She is now 7 weeks old. Still pretty fussy, but I know she will get happier as she grows. She still wakes up every 2-3 hours at night, however once in awhile I'll get lucky enough to get a 4 hour stretch. Her smile kills me it is so cute and she is getting a little chubbier every day.

Smiling Norah

Norah has been smiling for several weeks now... which is odd since she is only 6 weeks old. She is such a cute little baby. She is still on the fussier side, however she is SO much better now that I am on a strict no milk diet. Adeline was the same way when she was a baby. Their little tummies just can't break down the protein in milk very well and it makes them colicky. If you have a really fussy baby, it may help!! The only problem is that I have to be really good about it and read all the labels. You would be surprised to see how many things DO have milk in them. I was at target yesterday and it was almost impossible to find a loaf of bread without milk!

Anyway, here are a couple videos that may only be appealing to the grandparents :) The last one is of Adeline doing her silly dance. Sorry she is half naked, but she is wearing underwear!

Naughty

.... is a good word to describe Adeline lately. I feel like before she is about to do something she thinks, "what can I do to make mommy mad" or "how can I act out?" I am trying really hard to be patient. And I am starting to realize that I don't have as much patience as I thought I had... I need to work on that. I guess it is about time for Adeline to start acting like this because after all, she's two, right? Also, she has never been one to do anything she shouldn't do.

When it's time for bed, she starts kicking, screaming, yelling, crying... and doesn't let up. Yesterday for nap she did it for three hours and never even went to bed. She has the BIGGEST attitude lately. You ask her to do something and she will give you the biggest crusty, hit her hand in the air and snap "NO!"

Anyway, a couple things that she has done this week that are naughty, but funny are...

Lately in the morning Abe will get up with Adeline and play with her for a little bit before he has to go to work. And then I can sleep a little bit more after a sleepless night :) Abe will turn a show on for Adeline and then leave for work. I end up coming downstairs about 10 minutes after he leaves.

Tuesday- I heard Abe leave and then immediately I heard Adeline jump off the couch and run across the kitchen floor. I though... hmmm, that seems a little suspicious. We have a candy drawer that she can access and I had a feeling she was heading for that. I sneak downstairs and peak around the corner in to the kitchen and Adeline and shoveling candy out of the drawer. Busted. She looked at me and said, "mommy, I'm just getting you some candy!" That day I emptied out the drawer and hid the candy.

Wednesday- Abe leaves. I go downstairs about 10 minutes after. Adeline is watching Dora and has blue all over her face. Before I could even say anything, she said "mommy, I ate a blue sucker". Uh, I know, I see it all over your face! Don't know where she found that.

Thursday- Abe leaves. I go downstairs about 10 minutes after. Adeline is watching her show as usual and eating out of a plastic bowl. I didn't even look to see what she was eating because I figured that Abe gave her dry cereal. I am about to pour myself a bowl of cereal and Adeline says, "mommy, I'm eating chocolate!". Adeline had got into the pantry, found the chocolate chips and poured them into a bowl. Oh geez. As soon as I take them away, she runs over to me and says, "mommy, do you want to see what I did?", "Uh, yes", Adeline brings me into the Laundry room and says, "I'm going to be in big trouble!" There is a rag on the floor by Chloe's water bowl. I look on the ground and there is no water (because ADeline has poured water on the floor before. I asked Adeline what she did and she brought Chloe over and patted her very wet back. "uh, Chloe has lots of germs!"

Looks like Adeline isn't the only one acting naughty... look where I found Chloe after I ran upstairs to put Adeline to bed?

My Girls

It's crazy how the love for your kids grows every single time you look at them. I have been looking at my kids a lot lately in awe because they are so prefect and I am so blessed to be their mom. Sometimes it is very overwhelming being at home all day with my kids, especially right now that I am home with them all night by myself since Abe is working on his thesis all the time. However, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love my kids so much! Here are some things about each girl I want to remember at their age....

*ADELINE* 2 1/2 yrs old

-loves to sing. Her favorites are church hymns and Christmas Music. She walks through stores singing "jingle bells" & "Santa Clause is coming to town".
-LOVES dancing
-Is the best big sister. She loves Norah more than I could ever imagine. When Norah starts crying, Adeline goes running to her saying "I'm coming baby sister!" & "Baby sister wants me!" She'll go over to her and give her the binky and rub her head.
-Can sing the ABC's, Counts to 15 in English (working on to 20) and counts to 6 in Spanish
-Love playing with her dolls and has the biggest imagination
-Loves taking pictures and sets up her own little photo shoots with her dolls
-Says "I think so" and "probably" in most of her sentences
-Loves stories. She always asks us to tell her stories and she also tells them. She starts with, "Once upon a time...."
-Favorite show is Dora
-LOVES to talk. She is a little jabber mouth!
-Loves clothes. She probably changes at least 4x per day. I NEVER dress her. When she wakes up, she put on all her clothes by herself before she even comes out of her room

*NORAH* 4 weeks

-has a little scratchy voice that is SO cute!
-smiles
-loves the Bjorn
-Only sleeps in 3 hour increments at night
-Has the cutest double chin
-Doesn't fit in to clothes that Adeline fit in 2 & 3 months old
-loves to be warm
-loves to be held
-likes to fuss, but is getting better every day it seems

I feel so lucky to have two beautiful girls and a wonderful husband. I am so proud of how hard you are working on your thesis Abe... less than two months till graduation!
