Last night we celebrated Beggar's Night, which is the same thing as Trick-or Treating. I have always known to trick or treat on Halloween, so this was new for us. I guess that every year it is a different day and sometimes it falls on Halloween. Why? Not sure. So last night we took Adeline Trick or Treating. I wasn't sure if she was going to like it, because she seems to get shy around people she doesn't know. I was wrong though. She loved it! She even helped to tap on the doors and gladly held out her pumpkin for them to put candy in.... and she KNEW she was getting candy. Afterwards, she would even say "tank tu" to them. Our neighbors that love Adeline so much even got her a little special treat bag filled with treats. I was very pleased with how the night went. Our neighborhood was packed full of little kids walking around and a lot of the neighbors were camped right outside of their doors passing out candy. Here are a couple pictures of last night. When we got home from Trick or Treating, Adeline went through her huge stash of candy and picked out all the suckers and was trying to eat all of them. I ended up giving her one and she ate it in about 2 minutes. She practically begged me for another one, so I gave in for a second sucker. Halloween is only once a year, right? By the way, I have almost finished off her stash of candy :)
This morning for Halloween, Adeline and I went to the mall and met Alexis and Laura (& their kids) to go to a little Halloween party. It was pretty lame, so we just ended up letting the kids play in the play area in the mall and then went to the pet store. Tonight, Abe, Adeline and I went to a Halloween party at our neighbors house. We got invited late last night, so did not have costumes. I just ended up being a cat and made pretty lame cat ears and Abe wrapped himself up in cling wrap and was "dressed" up as leftovers. He won't let me post a picture, so you can just use your imagination. Let's just say that both our costumes were pretty lame! Here is a picture of Adeline and I tonight-- two cats.
I was able to fly out to California for a pretty last minute trip to spend time with my family and see Sierra's new baby! Sierra was due the day after I got there, but day after day went by and I thought I was going to miss it! Finally 5 days late, baby Emerson Thomas Campbell arrived! He is so darling and I am so happy I was able to be there. Here are some pictures of baby Emerson: Adeline and Jojo were running around the hospital room with these blown up gloves and were loving it. It was pretty funny. Here is Grandpa Smart with his 3 little grand-babies. It was SO fun seeing Adeline and Johanna play and interact together. They held hands in the car, played together, fought over toys, Jojo taught Adeline how to jump, etc.... it was the best. I think Adeline may be missing her. Cute little Jojo Adeline My friend Tara was in the area and stopped by so we could see each other. Adeline and Mikey played so well together. It was so much fun seeing them, especially since the last time was when Adeline was born! And.... a video of the little girlies. Adeline's dance moves got pretty good while we were in Cali :)
There are so many friends that I would have loved to see in Cali, but there was just not very much time, as I was with my family the whole time. So, sorry to those of you that I did not contact when I was there!
Adeline had a weight check today... she weighed in at a whooping 17 lbs 13 ounces, which is in the 1st percentile. Her height was just above 30 inches, which is the 67th percentile. So she is just really skinny!!
This week has been a pretty good week. I can't complain. Exactly one week ago, we went to the Dayton Farmers Market, which was a lot of fun. They gave Adeline a free pumpkin and a clown made her a little doggy balloon that she loved. The best part about it though was that there was live music and yummy food. Adeline LOVED dancing to the music. Heres a funny video of Adeline spitting hot chocolate everywhere and dancing--
Another great part about this week is that we finally have contact with a guy that is supposed to instal granite in our kitchen and practically had fallen off the face of the earth with our money. Yea-- he was trying to scam us....that is until I went to the police department and the cop called this guy and did a little threatening. It is starting to look like it is going to turn out now. We will let you know what happens :)
On Thursday I watched my friends baby Sol and he is only 10 days younger than Adeline. It was fun seeing what it would be like to have twins! Here are a couple pictures from them at the park. Last night we went to the Beavercreek High School football game. Do we know anyone that plays?? No. Abe just loved his football. It was a fun night though and Adeline actually did pretty well and enjoyed it. Here are Abe and Adeline walking back to the car. Another thing that was great about this week is that gas is only $2.50....that means a $1.50 drop in the last couple weeks. We were so excited to see that it only took $35 to fill up my car today
Last but not least, Adeline was in the Church news today! She is so adorable. If you would like to see it, go here
So I knitted a Christmas stocking for Adeline, and then I eventually want to knit one for Abe, me and our other kids to come. I actually started it in California last year, and never finished it. Thanks to Alexis, she helped me figure out how to start on the heal and finish the sock. We have been trying to get together every week and let the girls run around and play, or fight while we knit. It has been pretty fun. Anyway, I finished Adeline's stocking, BUT, it is ENORMOUS. If I hold it up next to her, they are the same size. I think she could fit in it. So I am a little disappointed that it looks like it belongs to a giant. As I was kind of comlaining to Abe about it last night, he tried to make me feel better and said, "It looks good. You are like the only person I know that can do this!" Thanks Abe :) Even though I'm sure LOTS of people could do it. My next ones I will try to make smaller. Here is the final product.
This morning we walked up the street to the park so Adeline could swing and go down the slides. Chloe met a big Boxer friend and they ran around together. I think Chloe thinks she is big sometimes. The owner of the Boxer couldn't believe how fast Chloe ran. So we came home, Adeline ate lunch, we Skyped Nana and Grandpa Smart and then I went upstairs to put Adeline to bed. When I came back downstairs, this is what I found.....Chloe had put herself to bed on the couch (she is not allowed) AND snuggled up to the blanket. She is so tired she is falling asleep sitting up.
Oh, and of course a picture of Adeline....what a cute little monkey
My mom called me this morning and notified me that my vidoes have not been working. So I am re-posting the last two videos that I posted on my blog. Hopefully these work!
Adeline has been hitting her terrible 2's pretty early.... well at least it has seemed like it this week. Also, almost every night she has woke me up screaming bloody murder, and then it takes her forever to go back to bed. About every couple minutes, she has also been throwing a little tantrum about something or another. She is also WHINING, ALL THE TIME. She will just point and start whining. She doesn't even know what she wants and most of the time she is not even pointing at anything in particular. Well, anytime your child acts like this, it is nice to have the excuse that they are teething. I have just thought Adeline was going through a bad stage, and maybe she is. BUT, tonight I felt on the back of Adeline's gums and she just got another molar!! She now has 10 teeth!!! Soooo... I am going to blame this behavior on teething :) I still can't help but to laugh, smile and kiss her all over even when she is being naughty. She is just too cute.
Here are her new teeth Adeline was really hyper tonight and so I thought I would video a little bit of it because she was being hilarious. Of course when I started taping her, she calmed down a bit
Tonight I made really yummy tortilla soup and a dessert. They actually were both very easy and SO good from Kraft foods. I didn't take any pictures of the soup...sorry. Here are the recipes:
TORTILLA SOUP for the soup-- 2 Tbsp. Italian Dressing 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 cans chicken broth 1 1/2 C. Water 6 frozen small boneless skinless chicken breast halves 1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
toppings-- 4 cups tortilla chips, crushed 1/2 cup shredded cheese 1/3 cup sour cream 1 large avocado, peeled pitted and chopped 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
Mix dressing and garlic in large saucepan; cook on medium-high heat 1 min., stirring occasionally. Gradually add broth and water, stirring until well blended. Add chicken. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 20 min. or until chicken is cooked through. Remove chicken from broth mixture; cool slightly. Pour broth through a fine-mesh strainer; return broth to pan.
Shred chicken; return to pan. Stir in tomato sauce. Cook on medium-high heat until heated through, stirring occasionally.
Ladel soup into soup bowls. Garnish with the topping ingredients.
Supposed to make 8 servings. But we were pigs and for us it probably on made about 3. You can count on at least 4 unless you are pigs like us. Mmmm, it's so good.
Here are pics of the dessert... STRAWBERRY WHIPPED SENSATION 4 cups fresh strawberries, divided 1 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milk 1/4 lemon juice 1 tub (8 oz) cool whip whipped toping, thawed divided 8 oreo chocolate sandwich cookies 1 Tbsp. butter, melted

Spread remaining whipped topping onto top and sides of dessert. -slice remaining 2 cups strawberries; arrange on dessert. Store leftovers in freezer.
I can't believe that it is already October. I keep thinking, "where has the summer gone!" Over the last two days, our weather changed pretty drastically. It was in the 80's and today it was in the 50's. I stayed in sweat pants and fuzzy socks the whole day because I couldn't get warm. It's starting to feel like fall though, and I love that we are finally living in a place with seasons!
Here is a funny video of Adeline teasing Chloe. She loves to go grab Chloes treat bag and chase her around the house with them. She also says "mmmm" when she picks them up and would like to eat them. She cracks me up.
I LOVE this age right now. Everyone says I will say that about every age, and that is probably true. She is so fun right now. Also pretty hard at times since she has a mind of her own, but still fun. She is throwing a lot of tantrums lately, but even when she is completely losing it, I still love her so much and think she is the cutest thing ever.
She is a "mini me" right now. She wants to do EVERYTHING that I am doing. If I am vacuuming, she has to help. If I am cooking, she has to help... and so on and so forth. Tonight we found her with two rags in her hands cleaning off her high chair and also the floor. Also tonight, she kept standing in front of me and whining while I was trying to cook dinner as she was grabbing onto my legs. So, I put her on the counter and let her hold a spoon so she could try to stir the food and participate. Then, voila, she was happy.
This may be boring for some of you, so you can skip through this part if you want. I just need to document what Adeline is doing right now. * We taught Adeline how to sign just over a week ago and she can now sign:
