A handful of months before Spring Break, I decided that I would be crazy again this year and make the long trek by myself to California. The drive is completely dreadful, but the reward is amazing to be able to be with my sisters, have my kids be with their cousins and of course escape to some warmer weather. On the way to California, Colorado had some snow storms and I had to change plans and drive through New Mexico. That was a first for me and it did make me a little nervous. We stopped in Flagstaff for a break and got a hotel room. The kids were so good on our car ride, which made it to much easier for me! When we were about 2 hours out from our destination, Anders did start to lose it, but the girls helped entertain him and we made it!!
At the end of our trip, we headed to Palm Springs to stay with Grandma Dofi for a couple of nights. We did this last year too and the girls loved it so much! Unfortunately Grandma was sick while we were there and wasn't feeling well. We were still able to spend some quality time with her and then let her rest while we went swimming and grapefruit picking!
The kids were being so good on the way home, that I decided to drive all the way through. I was addicted to a book on tape and the kids slept after dinner. 19 hours of traveling/driving with 4 little kids in one day is no joke! They were as good as I could have ever expected them to be though, and I am so grateful for that. The last 2 hours I was in a snow storm and literally 5 minutes after we put Anders in his crib when we got home, he started throwing up! Yikes! We had such a great time in California and I already miss my sisters so much! I wish I could play with them everyday!
