On Tuesday we had a "meet & greet" in Adeline's new classroom so she could meet the kids and her teacher. Her teacher is really nice and I think Adeline likes her. There are 6 girls and 6 boys in her class. It was fun for her to see her name all over the classroom and she even has her own locker. Yesterday was officially Adeline's first day of school. We only live a 2 blocks away from school, so are planning on walking everyday. Unfortunately it was a downpour yesterday morning and I decided to drive. Adeline stood at the door and sang "rain rain go away, come again another day". She was really upset we didn't walk. It was hilarious because I have been not too excited about waking up the girls at 7am (they usually don't wake up that early). However Adeline ran into our room at 6:45 yesterday all happy. I asked her why she was up so early and she said, "Because today is my first day of school!"
I walked her into her classroom and helped her get her stuff into her locker. I sat her down at one of the tables where they were doing an activity and she was totally fine. I had to ask her to give me a hug and a kiss before I left and she was like, "bye!". Made me get all choked up for a minute but I was glad I didn't cry and freak her out. When I picked her up she told me that "No boys or girls were mean to me! They were all nice!" Glad she likes it! Crazy I have a preschooler.

Walking home...

And of course Norah was happy Adeline was home from school too!

They gave us this little keepsake card where we can put a picture of her on her first day of school. I thought it was cute. It says:
THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
I gave you a little wink and a smile
As you entered my room today.
I know how hard it is to leave
And simply walk away.
You've been together for several years.
You've been a loving guide.
But now the time has finally come,
To leave your child by my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears may start to flow,
I'll love your child as I would my own
And help your little one to grow.
So place a favorite picture here,
And cherish it in your own way.
And know your child will be safe and loved
As we work and learn each day.
{It did make me cry when I read this}
