Crawling, Scooting, etc....
Last weekend Adeline all of a sudden started trying to crawl. She was getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. Over the past 5-6 days, she has made a lot of progress. She is now semi-crawling. She starts on her hands and knees and once she starts moving forward, she falls down. At that point, she just scoots across the floor with her hands and also by getting up on her toes and pushing herself forward. She is growing up so fast!!

How long did you date?
7 months including our engagement.....way faster than I expected it to be. Whenever anyone asks this question, Abe's answer is "Ah, 2 weeks".
How old is he?
Just turned 28. People are always pretty suprised when they find out how old Abe is. On our honeymoon, someone at the hotel thought that we were both in High School. Pretty sad.
Who said I love you first?
I don't really remember....that is bad. I know that I wanted to say it way before Abe said it to me, but didn't want to do it first. I think that Abe said it first to me.
Who's taller?
For sure Abe, he is way taller than me!
Who can sing better?
Uh, I am about the worst singer that you have ever heard. Abe is better than me, but the Barker's don't have any singing talent either.....haha.
Who is smarter?
ABE!! He has like a 3.95 GPA right now in graduate school for his MBA, and had about that for his undergrad. Not only is he book smart, but he knows the most random facts. Whenever we are watching a game show or something, he knows all the answers.
Who does the laundry?
I do most of it. Sometimes Abe will throw in a load and he is good at helping me fold it if it is on the couch.
Who pays the bills?
Abe just passed that task off to me now that I don't work. However, lots of the bills are bill-pay and get paid automatically.
Who sleeps on the right side?
Abe. No matter where we are, we always sleep on "our" sides.
Who mows the lawn?
Haha, no lawn for us to mow. When we move to Ohio in a couple months though, I am sure we will have a lawn to mow. I will make Abe do it :)

PROBLEM....
Ok, so I have a problem. My dog loves people to play with her. So she will always bring us toys and set them on our hand, or our lap to get us to start playing. Well, I keep finding Chloe giving her toys to Adeline. We do wash Chloe's toys, but they are disgusting and are definitely not clean. Yesterday I kept finding Adeline holding onto one end of "piggy" (chloe's toy) and Chloe holding onto the other end. And of course everything goes into Adeline's mouth. So I finally hid Piggy, and Chloe brought her Tug, which is her other toy.
Now today, I found one end of Chloe's "string" in her mouth, and the other end in Adeline's. This "string" is an old drawstring of Abe's that became Chloe's toy....and it is disgusting. I about wanted to barf, but had to take a picture first. Gross!!
Then, when I was putting that picture on the blog, I looked over and Chloe had given Adeline Tug again. I don't know what to do!
And here is just a cute picture of Adeline I took this morning. Hopfully I didn't gross you all out!

Swimming, Shopping Cart cover, and tribute to diva...
First of all, I wanted to have a little "tribute" to my dad's horse Diva. She was pregnant with a little colt and was due in about two months. Last week, she was found dead in the pasture and had miscarried. We are not exactly sure what happened, but there must have been a complication. Diva was my dad's baby......and he was so excited to have a little colt. We are so sad that Diva is gone. Luckily, we were able to ride her and spend time with her over the summer.
Here is a picture of Abe, Adeline and Diva when Adeline was about 4 weeks old.
On a happier note, I took Adeline swimming for the first time this last Thursday to a mommy and me swim class. She absolutely loved it. She was kicking her legs the entire time and had a big smile on her face. It was cute because in the class they sing little songs, splash around and get the babies used to the water. Next week, they are even going to have Adeline go under water and do the "dolphin dive". I am going to be more scared than she will be! She doesn't look like she was happy in this picture, but she was.....just a little cold at this point :)
So, I got a sewing machine for Christmas and have had my mind set that I can make whatever I want. I probably can, but I don't know if they will turn out very well. I made this shopping cart cover for Adeline and finally finished it last night. I pretty much made the pattern up, so it took me a long time to finish. I didn't know if it would turn out, but I am pretty proud of the final product! Now I just need to go to the store and pray that it will fit in the shopping cart :)

5. How long did labor last? 6 hours. The doctor broke my water right when I got to the hospital. My contractions immediately went to two minutes apart, and 6 hours later she was born. Luckily it was fast...because my hosptial refused to give me an epidural. Our hospital sucks!
6. Who was in the room when baby was born? Abe, the nurse and the doctor.
7. How long did you push? 1/2 hour
8. Weight? 6 pounds 6 ounces
9. Length? 20 inches
10. Any hair? She had a lot of light brown hair. They say a lot of heart burn, means a lot of hair!
11. Who does baby look like? She is a good mix. But she looks a lot like my baby pictures. So more like me :)
12. Be honest...how much weight did you gain while pregnant? 28 lbs. 6 of which I gained in the last 4 days
13. Was the baby early or late? 5 days late!
14. Who drove you home from the hospital? Abe
15. How many baby showers did you have? Three. My mom threw me one in SLC, My friend Carley threw me one in Santa Maria, and my friend Sara threw me one in Santa Maria.
16. When did baby start sleeping through the night? Depends on what you call sleeping through the night. She has always been a pretty good sleeper. If you say sleeping through the night is 7-8 hours, she was about 4 months. But now she is sleeping 10-12 hours.
17. Did you breastfeed? Yes, still am.
18. Who takes care of your baby/kids the most? Me! But Abe spends a lot of time with her when he is not working, doing scuba diving certification, or doing his MBA classes
19. When do you want to have another one? That is up for debate. Abe would like them to be 2 years apart. I would like that, but we'll just see if I am ready when the time comes. I say for sure 2-3 years apart.
20. How did you pick the name(s)? It is sort of in our family history. We have an Adele and an Adelaide in my family history. She was first going to be named Adele, and nicknamed Addie. Then Abe saw a street sign...yes a street sign, named Adeline and like that name. So we went with it and her nickname is still Addie.
21. How did you know when it was time to go to the hospital? I didn't really know. All day long I was having little contractions on and off, but they were not every 5 minutes apart. I was over due and my mom walked me like three times a day trying to get Adeline to come. So I was walking all day when I had little contractions too. Later on in the day, I was watching a movie with my sister, mom, my sister in law, mother in law and father in law and I started having really bad contractions. All the sudden the hospital called me and told me to come in to be induced, since I was already 4 days late. I went to the hospital, and when I got there, my contractions were 5 minutes apart.
22. Anyone spend the night with you the first night home? My mom, and Abe of course.
23. Did you cry the first time you held your baby? It's all kind of a blur, but I am pretty sure I cried. All the sudden I was holding this beautiful little baby and was so overwhelmed. It is the best feeing in the world.

But we should have brought the video camera, because at the hospital I wouldn't have cared...and it would have been fun to watch afterwards. Smiley baby
Nothing is too new and exciting with us. The excitement is being with Adeline everyday!! We will be going to San Diego this weekend, so that should be fun.
This is a picture of Adeline in her bouncer. She absolutely LOVES it. I put her in it about 2 weeks ago, and she would just play with the toys, but not bounce. About a week ago, she figured out how to bounce and she goes crazy in it. She bounces so hard it sound like she is going to break it or fall out of it.....or both. I took a video about a week ago because it is so funny.....but I have a Mac, and for some reason it won't allow me to post videos. If anyone else knows otherwise, let me know! So I was doing something in the kitchen while Adeline was in her bouncer and when I looked at her, her headband had fallen in her face. She was still bouncing and playing with her toys. I kept saying, "Adeline" and she would move her head left and right looking for me thinking she would find me and had the biggest smile on her face. It was hilarious.

Here is Adeline and her friend Kyle, who is 5 weeks younger than her ( Bridgette's baby). They had a playdate this past week together. Now they just need to learn how to crawl so they will interact more!

Happy New Year!
Happy 2008!! We had a great time over the Holidays. We drove all the way to Utah to be with family over Christmas and the New Year. While we were there we had a lot of fun. We mostly just spent the time hanging out with our family and playing games. We did get to go to a Ute Basketball game and go snowboarding, which was a lot of fun. On our drive to Utah, Abe was able to go to the BYU bowl game. Adeline and I couldn't go because it was too cold. Abe even ran on the field by himself when the game was over!! The week and a half that we were in Utah, it seemed like Adeline grew up so much. She is sitting up a lot better (not on her own), she is getting better at eating her rice cereal, she is talking a lot, and she is super happy! Here will be a medely of pictures once again. Hope you all had a great Christmas!

-Thanksgiving in Palm Springs. Had a ton of fun with family and Chloe almost died!!
-Abe got accepted into AFIT and we will be moving to OHIO!!!
