Halloween

This year we went to our Church Truck or Treat for Halloween. We invited some friends of ours that have a little girl about the same age as Adeline. They are the best little buddies. We were thinking there was a very good possibility that it would be lame, but it was so much fun and was very well organized! There were a bunch of games for the kids, apple cider, cake contests, costume parade, and the trunk or treating of course. Adeline had SO much fun. Norah slept in her car seat for the first half of it until we decided to wake her up so she wouldn't miss out on all the fun!

Mt. Washington

A couple weekends ago Abe and his friend went to go hike Mt. Washington (the tallest peak in the NorthEast, aka home of the Worlds Worst Weather). I was a little bit worried because it was SO windy and rainy here... which only meant it was way worse there. They camped overnight in Abe's two man tent. Pretty hilarious since Abe's friend is 6'6. Anyway, they started hiking at 7:15am the next morning. He said the weather was pretty nice while they were below the tree line, for about 3/4 of the way. After that the weather got pretty crazy with wind, snow and hardly any visibility. Abe's friend decided that he could not go any further and convienently decided to stay back in a shelter that was nearby (short story, he listened to his wife, not to push himself :). Abe, being his crazy self, decided to finish ALL BY HIMSELF! Right before Abe got to the peak he did not know where he was for sure and had no visibility. He just kept on going in the direction he thought he should and eventually ran into an "expert" hiker that had hiked that peak many times before. All I can say is this man was a blessing because he let Abe tag along with him to the top of the peak and back down until Abe got to the shelter to meet his friend. Luckily Abe had brought goggles with him, or he would not have survived! Hopefully Abe has learned his lesson not to hike by himself.... or more importantly, listen to your wife!!!

Royalston Falls

A couple weeks ago we drove about an hour to go on a hike to Royalston Falls. Our good friends came with us and Adeline was very excited that her friend Benjamin was there. They had a blast walking around holding hands, balancing on logs, racing each other and finding the yellow marks on the trees to make sure we were going the right way. After we hiked we all went out to dinner in a small town by the falls. It was so much fun to get out and see some new areas in Massachusetts!

Honey Pot Hill

Last week we met some friends at Honey Pot hill. Adeline was supposed to go there for a little field trip and was SO excited. They were going to go on a Hayride, get apple cider & apple cider doughnuts, pick a bag of apples and pick a pumpkin. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and they had to cancel it twice. So her field trip got scratched completely. She had a blast going with her friends Mary & Abby. Abby is going to be moving away next week, so it was fun to have another play date with her as well. We got some yummy apple cider doughnuts (to die for!), looked at the animals and we went apple picking. These orchards were so pretty! I loved how they had ladders everywhere so you can climb up and pick the best apples. Adeline was not afraid at all. She wanted to climb right to the top and about gave me a heart attack.

Breakthrough

{Adeline's self portrait}

I think we have had a little breakthrough around here! For the first time in Adeline's LIFE, she is drinking a glass of chocolate milk.... even better, she is asking to drink a glass of milk! She has always been a milk hater and the ONLY time she would ever get any is if we could convince her to put it in her cereal (which didn't happen too often).

I had parent teacher conferences yesterday with Adeline's teacher (pretty funny I think since she is in preschool), and they went pretty well. I loved seeing some of the things that Adeline has been doing in class and some of the things she has created. The feedback that she gave me was that Adeline hardly ever talks and is very shy. Uh, where did that come from?? I have seen her be very shy in large groups, but for sure thought that after a couple months of being in preschool that she would be her little "jibber jabber" self and playing with all the kids. I guess she only really plays with other kids when she is asked to. Very strange since this is complete opposite of how I know her. Hopefully she will get out of her shell more! She told me " I know she must have a good vocabulary and stuff, but I never hear her talk!"..... Uh, that is pretty funny to me! She NEVER stops talking to me and asks question after question.

Kara & Makenna's visit

A couple weeks ago one of my very best friend's from Ohio came to visit with her little girl. I was so excited for them to come and their visit went by much too fast! Even though it rained almost half the days she was here, we were able to get a lot in.

Here were our highlights-

*Job Lane Farm House in Bedford, Ma

They were offering to have military to come and tour this historical home for free and gave us so appetizers, so we took them up on it. This house was built in 1713 and it was fun to see all the old furniture. It was pretty random, but fun to see some of the surrounding towns history.

**Lobster Dinner at Woodmans in Essex, Ma
We love this place because it is laid back and authentic. You pick your lobster right outside the restaurant and they cook/steam it for you. During the summer they have an ice cream shop in the back that is yummy. It was closed for us though :(

Happy babies at dinner...

Group picture minus Abe, gotta love Adeline...

Beautiful Sunset as we were leaving the restaurant...

**Harvard Square

Got yummy cupcakes at the sweet shop. LOVE this place!!

**Downtown Boston
Kara and I took that babies into Boston & walked around, went to H&M & ate at the Quincy Market.

**Photo shoot of our girls
I cannot believe that this worked out! It had been rainy and freezing so we didn't think we would be able to pull it off. That morning we wanted to do it ended up being a perfect day! Adeline kept complaining in the car that she was sick and was going to throw up (that has been the latest "threat") and the babies were getting hungry. However, it all worked out and they cooperated!! Here are a handful and you can find more on my photography blog :)
