Camping at Eleven Mile State Park

Last summer, we went camping with the Scheids at Eleven Mile State Park. I almost didn't go, because I messed up my back from flying to D.C. on a red-eye with crazy sore legs... it jacked my back! Since we had rented a little trailer from base, I decided I would be super careful and give it a go. The kids and us adults had a blast and I am glad that we decided to go!

The kids caught some little crawdads and were making little homes for them, had named them and were expecting to bring them home with us!

Before we went home, we went and found a place to let the crawdads go. There were lots and lots of tears involved....mostly from Meika. She was heartbroken.

Incline and D.C trip for Mike's wedding

Abe's good friend Mike, from when we were stationed at Vandenberg got married in D.C. last July. Margie and Maggi were nice enough to come and watch our kids for the weekend so we could go kidless.

The day before we left, Abe, our nephew Jake and I woke up really early and went to go hike the incline. It was so neat and such a challenge. Of course Abe was pushing us to go as quickly as we could to the top :) The views from the top were amazing! I was pretty proud of myself because at the beginning I thought my legs were going to die. Surprisingly, they felt great after we climbed to the top and even had to run/walk several miles back to the bottom. That night (I think?) we took a red-eye to D.C and by the time we got off the flight, I could barely walk! I pretty much had to be on a bunch of pain killers the entire weekend so I could walk! ha!

We were able to walk around D.C for a bit, got some yummy sushi and also enjoyed going to Mike's wedding and meeting his new wife!

Summer thunderstorm

Out of everywhere we have lived, Colorado by far has the craziest weather. Crazy high winds, hail, thunderstorms, rainstorms... and sometimes snowstorms. We had a huge rainstorm in the summer and since it was hot outside, the kids put on their boots once the rain let up and were playing in the massive street puddles!
