October 2016

Life is so crazy right now and the days, weeks and months have been flying by. Because I am now so incredibly far behind on my blog, I am going to be updating in monthly increments until I am up to date!

First some random pictures from my phone in October...

All the kids had Halloween class parties and somehow I managed to attend all three of them. It was quite exhausting, but so worth it.

My kids were looking forward to Halloween for months it seemed. I was a little bit of a procrastinator and didn't make their costumes till the week of Halloween. I think I totally underestimated how much time it was going to take me and was completely stressed out because it was so last minute. Luckily Sierra sent me a Medusa dress she had made for Johanna another year. It was just the three other kids costumes that took me forever. Norah's was just a mod podge of random fabrics. I thought she was going to be disappointed with her "ghost", but she is so easy to please and was stoked about it. The other part I underestimated was Adeline's head piece. I ended up getting a bunch of curlers and we twisted them, sprayed them with glue and covered the snakes in green glitter. I think I just got some wire and tied them on as tight as possible.

Meika was so cute about her witch costume. She wanted to wear it everywhere and was so excited about her witch nose and green face. When we went trick or treating, she lasted about a block and got scared from all the other costumes and called it a night. The other two girls went strong for a couple hours it seemed and had such a blast. We didn't get very many trick or treaters at all, but I think it's because our street didn't have very many houses on it and was towards the back of the neighborhood. I think we will get a lot more next year, because we already have tons of houses behind us and it is growing rapidly.

Last but not least, now that Abe is the program manager for the Cobra Dane radar, he took a trip to Alaska to visit it. It is actually in the Aleutian Islands near Russia and there is nothing else on the island except for the radar.... it sounds totally creepy to me!
